Glasgow! You never fail to disappoint us! What a fantastic time we had in Scotland in June: it was the 5th edition of #DesignPopUp Glasgow: with a mixture of long-time exhibitors and new partners and products the event is getting better and better year after year.
Here's our #BestOf this year's edition:
A new entry for #DesignPopUp: we love them because they have got style. They have been around for several decades manufacturing furniture for mainly the Higher #Education and #Healthcare sectors, but they are now going through a radical revamp of their branding and collections, and introducing some very sophisticated, colorful and stylish pieces that would work very well in the #Hospitality as well as #Corporate markets too.
The Union range by Crosswater
We are a bit bias on this one as the new #Union collection by #Crosswater is inspired by industrial forms and renowned #Italian design flair, two things that we love. But we certainly were not alone in admiring the taps and basin from this new range as well as the more traditional looking bath and sinks that Crosswater had on display at the event in Glasgow.
Domus Tiles, now Domus Group, has been exhibiting at #DesignPopUp from day one, therefore this was the 5th time they were showcasing their products in Glasgow, and to make sure the local specifiers would still be intrigued to find out more about what they offer - which is now a massive offer since they have porcelain tiles, natural stone, engineered timber, vinyl, AND laminate flooring in their portfolio - this year they certainly pulled out all the stops and built one of the most striking stands that we have ever had at #DesignPopUp.
The new Alchemy Collection by Bute Fabrics
We were over the moon when Bute Fabrics signed up for this year's events in #Glasgow and #Manchester as they were one of the original companies who bought into the #DesignPopUp concept and we had missed them. For the last couple of years they have been very busy with an intense modernization of their brand and product, and they are now finally launching a beautiful and vibrant new collection called Alchemy.
Back by popular demand, the Agilita pieces are always very well received by our designers and specifiers. And they make a great and useful addition to out #CPD area too. The #TOOaPICNIC piece in particular was very popular among our guests
What's not to love about these guys. This family business, now at its 5th generation with the recently appointed Marketing Manager going by the name Alysa Shadbolt, has over 100 years of expertise in turning the most beautiful veneers in stunning pieces of architectural and building products, such as doors, wall panels, acoustic panels, cubicles and so on.
Liprotec by Schlüter-Systems
Schlüter-Systems is a leading supplier of waterproofing, soundproofing, under-floor heating materials etc, but in Glasgow they got everyone's attention with their Liprotec system: #LED strips that allow you to create an environment where light becomes dynamic and can be controlled via your phone.
Mirrl is a new solid surface material, hand crafted in Glasgow and brain child of Scottish furniture designer #SimonHarlow, who started developing Mirrl 15 years ago during a period spent working and living in #Japan where he came across the Tsugaru Nuri 600-year-old technique. Mirrl comes in several bold colors, but can be manufactured to your specific tone, and it's fantastic for kitchen tops, bars, reception desk, wall covering etc.
#Corten steel furniture manufacturer, Track Design came all the way up from Puglia, in the Shouth of Italy, to showcase their beautiful range of outdoor furniture to the Scottish specification community. And it was a very successful trip! Track Design has a very extensive collection that works very well for residential projects, but also for hospitality and urban furniture.
Bottom line is: we had a fantastic time in Glasgow, once again, and very much looking forward to coming back in June 2019.
