Designing with Communities

Wednesday, 25th March 2026.

A playful, hands-on creative workshop where the designer becomes the participant.

This session is all about learning through doing, forgetting about the technicalities and stresses of the design process. Through mark-making, drawing and painting, you'll be guided to explore ideas of intuitive art making. Experimentation and joyfulness at the centre of the workshop.

In the second half, we'll shift into reflection, exploring what it really means to design with communities. Together, we'll unpack best practices or meaningful engagement, particularly when working with vulnerable groups, and discuss how to create inclusive, authentic, and artful collaborative processes.

Led by Finni Porter Chambers, a spatial designer and researcher working at the intersection of socially engaged and regenerative design. Her recent work includes The Nook (SAMH), developed with Anna Campbell Jones, a mental health space in Glasgow
